Holiday spending increased 0.7 percent in 2012, compared with last year, according to the MasterCard Advisors SpendingPulse report. Analysts projected it would increase 3 to 4 percent.
As retailers try to make up for lagging sales before the end of the year, it could mean bigger discounts for you.
We stopped by a Dallas Target store to see what we could find. We found something way better: super-discount-shopper Melissa Sylvester.
“I got this from my mother, who said my grandmother could pinch a penny farther than anyone she’d ever seen,” she said.
She had a cart-full of items, all at least 50 percent off.
“If it’s not at least half off, I’m not going to buy it,” said Sylvester.
Post-Christmas sales can be some of the best, if you know what you’re looking for.
