So I tune into "Nightcap News at 5" for the first time ever. And one of the first stories is this story, a repeat of a very false Esquire story that has been debunked for hours now.

Furthermore, your headline makes it sound like "the shooter's" unemployment was fired or laid off. He retired. Yes, he currently has no job. But the headline should say retired, because that is what he is.
If you are going to report the news, make sure to report it correctly. Otherwise, I won't be tuning in to this show for a second time.
