A father has been arrested and charged in the death of his five-week-old child. According to Garland Police, officers and EMT responded just after 5:00am Friday morning to a CPR in progress call at the 1300 block of Elmhurst. Five-week-old Spencer Claire White was taken by ambulance to Baylor Hospital of Garland before being transported via helicopter to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas; the newborn was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.
Detectives say the infant’s father, Tommy James White, Jr., was left alone with the child while family members went to a store to buy a pacifier; when they returned, Spencer was unconscious and not breathing. It is believed that Tommy White, Jr. is responsible for the injuries that caused the child to die Friday evening. White has been charged with Capital Murder-Person under Six Years of Age; he is currently in the Dallas County Jail with bond set at 1,000,000.
