Lion kills heron is not news. If a heron killed a lion, that would be news.

Hillarious! And you are so right.

Duh….that's what lions do in the wild….eat other animals. We take them out of the wild and think they're going to be like humans. Why would this shock "zoo visitors"? Besides, the heron was in he lion's territory.

Exactly, Chris!! Anyone who finds this odd in any way, obviously hasn't noticed the feathers on their lawns every Spring when most domestic cats are teaching kittens to hunt for food & guard their territories. Put baby seals in with Polar bears. They get along just as well.
Max, a typo doesn't make Jonathan's point any less valid. Noah'sArc.org runs the MOST AMAZING Sanctuaries for any animals & also children!!!!! Check out their site & you too, will feel you've witnessed True Angels at work on Earth. Also, fantastically beautiful pics.

Lions also don't belong in zoos. I realize they are endagered, but there are santuraies where I believe the lions would be able to roam.

Jonathan, see my reply to Chris. It is kind of a reply to both of you in one shot and includes a web address to the MOST FANTASTIC sanctuary!!!! I sent a donation right away, because I felt like I'd seen the work of TRUE ANGELS. If you love animals, you will happily spend hours on the site.

Hey…you want to go and see WILD animals caged in a zoo, don't be surprised when their WILD, internal instinct causes them to do something instinctually WILD. After all, that's what a WILD lion in the WILD would do to survive…right? I am a huge birder, but I am also a wildlife/nature enthusiast. I, actually, was able to appreciate that footage. It's the circle of life, unraveling right in front of our eyes. We should feel privileged to have witnessed that. I found it very interesting that the adult female caught the heron, the huge adult male king just sort of followed her around, but then it was the young cub that ended up with the catch of the day! So they are not much different than the average human when it comes to dinnertime… ha, ha!

Too cool. You can tell who's in charge in that family. Even the big male was backing off which, in the wild, would be unthinkable.

That's because in the wild the adult male has many females in his pride and in the zoo he only gets one.

you are right about the male having more than one female in the wild but the females allow it. In the wild females are in charge. If you are honest with yourself, the same goes for humans .lol

Point of this article is to let the people see how Lions act outside the jungle. It's normal for Lions to kill other animals , yes but you rarely see them killing for their food.
