As many North Texans celebrated a resurrection on Easter Sunday, those in Kaufman County mourned two deaths. District attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia McLelland, were shot to death in their Kaufman County home Saturday night.
“It’s just been something that’s on the back of your mind, but you really don’t want to talk about it, kind of deal,” said Forney resident Marlin Groom.
“Mike McClellan is a very outspoken, very happy, loving, caring man. He is a joker. He laughs. He makes people laugh. Laugh so hard you just don’t want to stop listening to him,” said Forney resident Delana Stephens. “Now [the McLellands] are not here to enjoy the Easter with their families.”
“As soon as I heard it, that’s the first think I thought of, the other case that happened two months ago,” said Groom.
“I just don’t understand why they can’t catch these people,” said Stephens.
“It’s just very shocking and we feel like it’s not going to come to a stop. Whoever’s behind this, which a lot of people are speculating, and I do firmly believe that, is they’re going to continue, and they’re going to continue killing and they’re going to continue hurting people until these people are stopped.”
