Feds To Retire Hundreds of Chimps From Research

Ethics and new technologies are bringing good news to chimpanzees.  The National Institutes of Health announced June 26th it’s starting its process of retiring hundreds of chimps from research to sanctuaries.  The agency says it’ll keep up to 50 just in case there’s a compelling need to use them in future research for human health.  The NIH decision comes after a series of efforts to protect the animals both in the wild and in captivity.
